light enters (a coming genesis)

a totality of light
encroaches on the hungry allness
of emptiness

small furry things
eyes that wake
stomachs rise and fall
with tiny breaths

puffs sufficient
to tickle your cheek
mighty enough
to enliven miracles

our lives, too
rise with the chorus

we play our parts
and that is enough

thinking ourselves more, well
that is too much

have you been to America

"Have you been to England, America?" -- potbellied man from the train, The Namesake, Jhumpa Lahiri

once,
once I traveled to America
a fetus, a born-babe
grew to dream of Britain
of the Beatles, the Tower of London

the terror of everything I met here
more, of what I didn't
drove me inside myself
I fought to reach her outstretched hand
to embrace her sweet grace

and now, I am leaving
only 3 decades left, probably, no more
you would think that's enough
you don't know how tepid this slow, mild turtle
I have so many places to visit yet
the terror drives me inside

she teaches me
to reach for my dream
inside this dream

blue cafe 5

There is a young man
Playing guitar,voice
Like the calling out
Of a temple bell

There is a street preacher here too
Reading from the Bible
Louder and louder
To 3 young women
Who sit with him
Listen, part of them

Wants to give attention
To "Everybody's Talking at Me"
And "Nadine", and the young man
With the scruffy beard
And sparse mustache
Is singing, " it's not
How it seems
In the afterglow"
