2 4 T.

when I called him

the smartest man in Lakewood

he evaded the assertion

without a sound or a movement

but everyone knew

when T. saw the arc of the sun

the fading of climate stability

the elaborate schemes

to bully and disenfranchise

swaths of humanity

in his mind and heart

more so than in those of most of us

fell tears of ancient shaman mothers

waves in the subtle depths

of inner seas

crashed silent

colluding, perhaps succeeding

in comprehending

--

passing may be

least hard

on the passing

after the initial shock

has placed them

on a chariot of light

to light, through light

with beings of light

some who are known

some, once dreamed of

with the sadness

of one who remains

who watches the spectacle

of unfairness, the cruel lottery

we are not often illuminated

by any one of the seven elemental stars

buy may feel the connection

to this new god who has gone

his radiance casting shadows

behind us on the unkempt lawn

we call these shadows

loss

so much

 so much to read

so little we know

just oceanic light

blinded by delight

peace like the one

we've somehow lost sight

finer and finer

with each book we read

a dive down

a de-realization

an end complete

on unto infinite depth

where an oyster opens

to a heart jewel

a joy full, through darkness

our brilliance

from the patio

 the scene from the patio

breaks down into lines

shapes, hues

I am reading about insight meditation

discovering the world we know

as an intertwining of elements

which themselves have no ground

there are no houses

no fences, no trees, no cars

only blotches of color

framed by a fine geometry

and, still

that blazing sun-yellow van

parked in the lot across the street

announces its ridiculous presence

to anyone who cares to partake

of the illusion
